A Cd-Rom Driver

I have an IBM 701CS Laptop I got a PCMCIA Cd-Rom Drive for it. I used the Cd rom drive and upgraded it to Windows 98 and installed microsoft office 2000. When i got the CD-Rom drive out a few months later and connected it. It blatantly refused to function. I have searched the Internet through and through but, because i have no information at all on the Cd-rom drive. it came with a driver disk with no brand name on it and no readme file on the driver disk. well, this is really hindering the usage of my laptop.
