Good day;
I realize that this may seem like a stupid post considering the M5310 has been out for a while and this topic most likely has allready been covered, but unfortunately, I am unable to find a solution anywhere. The laptop is rated at 2.4 GHz but I am running it at ~500 MHz and it continues to overheat if the running processes eat up between 80 and 100% of the processing power. Can anyone offer any suggestions, either software or hardware, that will help alleviate this problem? Thank you. Morvok |

I had a similar problem with my M5310. I sent it back to eMachines for repair. It works fine now. My repair was covered under warranty. I've no idea how much it would cost you if your laptop is out of warranty. It took a few days for them to send me a box I could use to ship it to them. Then I was without the system for a little under a week while they worked on it and shipped it back to me.

Greetings and Welcome to DH
![]() As Orsmo suggested, you should get it looked at by eMachines if its still under warranty or you're willing to pay for it being looked at. Otherwise, I suggest cleaning it out by opening the laptop. I have to warn you though, that opening a laptop is a very tricky process with many, many screws. Only do this if you're desparate.

instructions on cleaning emachines 5310 or 5312 of dust
instructions on cleaning emachines 5310 or 5312 of dust:
here's a really helpful link to a forum thread that extensively discusses how to get rid of this overheating problem: http://www.dexplor.com/phpBB2/viewto...er=asc&start=0 I found it incredibly useful. My emachines 5312 laptop never crashes anymore. |
