Graphics problem

I have recently bought an Amilo M1425 with Ati Radeon 9700 128 MB

Very nice laptop but I have one problem that is very frustrating.

All the web graphics when I surf the Internet are horrible. They are blurry around the edges and I can see the pixels. Also when playing movies I notice the same problem.

With games there is absolutely no problem. They play smoothly and the graphics are smooth.

I created a simple image in Photoshop and saved it as JPEG (24bit colour maximum quality) and when I opened it in Windows it had the same problem. Then I saved the same image as BMP and when I opened the image it was normal, no strange edges or pixels.

I have reinstalled Windows and installed the original driver that comes on the CD with the laptop (the same driver as the one on Fujitsu's download site), same problem.
I tried the Omega driver but nothing changes.
I would also try the new Catalyst driver but I cannot install it (I have to install the Fujitsu version of it

It is so frustrating because the graphic card is obviously working but the images and movie playback are crapy.

I am using Windows XP Pro SP2
1280x800 60Hz
32bit colours

Is there something I am missing?

I really hope someone can help me because it is very very frustrating.

Turn your res settings down to 96dpi - display settings advanced, also if you havent already go into appearance, turn on cleartype.

when you say the graphics are blurry when surfing the net, is this just in internet explorer or all browsers?

Actually the problem is not only when surfing the internet, it is the same with any JPEG or GIF in general. I don't know, maybe it is Windows that has some problem with something. As I mentioned even if I create a new graphic in Photoshop, as soon as I save it as JPEG or GIF the it becomes all strange. But if I view the same images on another computer they are displayed fine so it seems to be a problem with the way Windows displays images (other than BMPs) and not with the images or any application.
