I bought a used laptop off of Ebay without hardrive and memory in it. Now since I instaled them I am trying to get it work, but I keep getting PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable and PXE-M0F Exiting Intel PXE ROM on my screen. Does anybody know what these messages mean, I will appreciate ur help. Thanks

That error usually occurs when the system is trying to bootup using your network device. If it can't find a network to boot from, it will come back with that error. This normally happens when the boot order is wrong.
What you need to do is check your laptop bios, and rearrange your bootup order. Either remove the network card from the list, or put it at the bottom of the list (floppy or hard drive first, then the CDRom, then network and usb devices last). That should clear things up for you. - Tip |
