Red Startup Screen and Desktop

Last night after I got home from my sister's house, I started up my laptop and sat down to play some AmericasArmyOnline, and my startup and desktop took on a strange and unadjustable red hue. My mouse pointer was the only thing not red. It was white. The part of startup, where you're given the opportunity to enter the bios was it's usual black and white, along with the windows screen. But the screen where it says Welcome was red instead of blue. I was also getting errors regarding radlinker. Something about file .030 not found. I tried searching the web for any problems like this but didn't find any. The only thing I could think of was to do a sys. restore to my Friday's settings. LUCKILY it worked. I then proceeded to uninstall MANY new (within the last week) programs from my laptop. Among these were WindowBlinds, Rainlender and Rainmeter, Sysmetrix, and Radlinker. I also re-set the video drivers back to the ATI ones instead of the Omega ones. I'd installed them over a month ago, but with the red screen I didn't wanna take any chances.
I know this...I didn't install anything new yesterday to cause it. The only thing I did yesterday was play AAO and took my lappy to my sister's so she could watch some video disc's her husband sent her from Iraq. Question: is it possible there was a virus on one of his video discs? They were only pics, and a few short video clips, but no programs. I've run my virus scanner, and haven't found anything.
