M6811 woes

my girlfriend offered to upgrade my Emachine 6811 for me to Windows XP professional, not a problem as far as I am concerned. However after installation the cardbus contoller driver is gone and I cannot restore it, after discussing my problem with Emachines Chat, I found out that they refuse to help me because I switched the OS from XP home to XP professional. I am rather disappointed wtih Emachines or Gateway depending on your perspective, and I am pissed at the fact that they stepped away from any support period...but I need the cardbus controller driver for my M6811, as I did not recieve a restore disk, I am forced to contact Emachines or use other resources...

Look carefully on your c:\

Emachines does not provide a restore disk, but they ship all the laptops with the drivers on there in a folder called drivers I believe. I had the same problem with my m6805 when I upgraded to pro. I gave up, and then found them right on the the harddrive.

edit: If you totally wiped out your hdd, email me and I'll email you the drivers. I should still have them.

the generic cardbus reader drivers are not in the driver folder. I'm not sure it's a driver, but there is a program in "Program folders" I think under the folder "generic card reader". I'm having my m6810 serviced by Best Buy right now, but I can check the folder when I get it back, maybe I can find the driver for you. It may be a week or two though.

If you still have those drives, I need them. I did the same thing by upgrading to pro... but I have the restore disc (The 6811 did come with a restore dvd) However, the cardbus drivers do not appear to be in the drivers folder, they must be built into the image.
