help with cd-rom drive thing on my laptop please...!

Hey, Er i dont kno the technical jargon for this sorta stuff but basically when i try to copy stuff onto a blank cd it just wont copy it It says it has done but when i put the cd back in nothing is there and when i try to do it again it tells me that it hasnt worked and my disk will not work anymore as the process has created errors. Ive tried lots of different types and makes of cd rom but the same thing happens. Ive used different programs to do the copyin aswell. It will still register dvds tho not sure about cds but i tried using a cdroms disk cleaner thing and it wouldnt register that. Neway ive tried to explain my problem as clear as i can sorry its so vague and rambly! Somebody please help...if you can!

I doubt it's anything you're doing. I think the drive is just hosed, time to call up Dell to get a replacement.
