my first thing to check would be the wireless connection. Either you can use the built in wireless onnection handler from windows XP or most of the time the manufacturor of the wireless card supplies the software.
Check if you get a connection, that's the first thing you need. Hope this helps, if not let me know

CONTROL PANEL -> Network Connections
Right click your WiFi connection, select "Properties" Under "This Connection Uses the Following Items," open "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain a DNS server address automatically" are both checked. If both are checked, try restarting your access point by powering it down and back on. Are there any other comps on your network? Are they working? Do you have anti-virus and anti-spyware installed? rasta
