my new favorite distro.

Sabayon Linux Project Website

all drivers worked right from the start for me. (including ATI.)
compiz fusion working flawlessly even on the live dvd.
has all of the software suse had and more.
has some great games (im talking first person shooters and mmos like second life, not just the basic 2d games.)

I'm pretty much blown away.

DarkFoss is on a distinguished road

Sabayon is a nice distro..I've been sticking with Mandriva running 2008 right now..I always keep a Sabayon live handy though..real nice being able to log in as root and fix a config error from the comfort of a gui

RIV@NVX will become famous soon enough

I like it as a Live distro, but I wouldn't use it installed.

well coming from suse 10.3, its really nice.
alot of things were broken in 10.3, such as CCC, so my ati drivers would not work properly

I like that sabayon has the ati and nvidia proprietary drivers build right in and ready to go.
not that I can't install them myself, but I followed all the steps for installing them in suse and it still woulden't work.

I would just use gentoo, but I'm really not that advanced yet (can't even get it to install...), and I find sabayon better than ubuntu (kubuntu rather, I favor KDE over Gnome.)

Debian is the best choice according to my taste.

I don't mind. Good question!

Debian is a free distribution with no restrictions which some other distributions has and I experience Debian Etch easy to install and maintain(I like APT). I can have Etch installed on my old Powerbook G3 "Lombard" at the same time that I have it installed on my PC (Pentium 4) and I experience it as a bit cool, because the mac is very old with todays standards but it manages Debian with no problems! I can watch DVD movies despite this old computer.

I also like how open the Debian community is when showing problems for the public, I think this is good, definitely!

They have a good open source philosophy inside the community which is impacted in Debian in the way that it lacks commercial software inside the distribution which would make consumers interested in spending a lot of money for this software.

I have personally bugtested programs for the Debian community and been testing Debian patched kernels so I've had contact with the developers myself, which I've definitely experienced as exciting!

There are things with Debian which could be improved, so I'm not someone who believes that Debian is perfect, it's definitely not perfect, but for my needs it has worked extremely well and since I have been using it for so many years(Debian Slink in 1999 on an Amiga4000) it has been interesting to see the development.
