I remember having read, quite recently, that Xandros claims to have the largest paid install base, but I'm not sure what distribution is the most popular overall. DistroWatch has a counter, but apparently it fluctuates a lot depending on the length of the period. Over the last six months, Ubuntu has been the first by far, but more recently (last month or especially week), Fedora has taken over the lead (probably related to the new release). Canonical has done a great job with the media and I'm guessing that most new users are picking Ubuntu, but I wouldn't be surprised if an older distribution still had more users.

Re: Take an online test and find which distro is for you.

I've always been a linux wannabe. I've installed Suse and Ubuntu/Kubuntu before, but it never likes my 64 bit amd stuff, or my motherboard, or my videocards... so frusterating. But im not giving up.

Just downloded 5 new distros, maybe ill find the magic one.

The test suggested Gentoo, hmm.. Not quite right, I haven't even cared to test Gentoo. Attached the test.

Distro: Debian stable release.

Nice online test, I am a Ubuntu user.

Anyone know which is a good KDE distro to try? I have tried Kubuntu, but didn't like it.

Re: Take an online test and find which distro is for you.

You could try Mandriva 2009.1 Spring..I like their KDE offering.
The live cd is a nice way to try it before installing..The latest just hit RC1
and should come out next month.

Thanks for posting this. Got the same as IvanV and Judas. Didn't know about Mint, and might end up testing it.

Re: Take an online test and find which distro is for you.

openSUSE is also a good KDE distro, and they had recently released a respin (openSUSE 11.1 Reloaded) with 4.3.1.
You can get it here: Index of /repositories/KDE:/Medias/images/iso
