Kernel Panic
I'm multibooting WindowsXP, OpenBSD, and RH9 on my laptop. OpenBSD can't read my CD writer properly, and doesn't support my NIC off the bat, so I'm downloading the key bits into RH9 and then mounting the RH9 partition in OpenBSD and opening the tarballs. OpenBSD's installer crashed on me while I had my RH9 partition mounted, and now I get this error every time I try and boot into RH9 (it happens after it frees some memory from the kernel):
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. I wasn't sure as to what that meant, so I added an init line to grub's kernel options and got syntax errors, so I couldn't guess what it meant by passing init= to the kernel ![]() I've gone back in with a rescue disk, and /initrd is still there, so I haven't the slightest as to how to fix this short of a full reinstall. Running /mnt/sysimage/sbin/init gives me "cannot execute binary file", and I can't get fsck to run Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Perhaps cp /sbin/init on the rescue disk to /mnt/sysimage/sbin/init? (don't want to do this unless I know I won't kill something... wait, I just tried it, and the kernel isn't stopping anymore)Now I get (more or less, its too fast to get 100%): running /sbin/loader... md: recovery thread woken up.... sending termination signals... unmounting filesystems... <reboots into grub> Anyone know whats going on/ how to fix it? I think I'll try to restore /sbin/loader, just in case, but I'm in way over my head. I first started using linux/bsd about 5 days ago Thanks to anyone who can help!

Oops...
now its: failed to read /modules/module-info install exited abnormally sending termination signals...done md: recovery thread got woken up... sending kill signals...done etc. after using the rescue disk's /sbin/loader. I think I just fubared it massively Still, anyone know of a way to fix without a full reinstall?

Quote:
In resuce mode, goto the /boot directory Ensure that you have the file module-info as a symbolic link to the module-info.xx.xxx.xxx.xxx file If you do, can you post the contents of /etc/grub.conf ?
