ATi Mobility & Mandrake

I´ve been asked to help a friend with a problem. She wants to run Mandrake linux on her laptop, which is equipped with a ATi Mobility 128. She cant get it to work properly. Any ideas on drivers etc?

Does she want 2D working or does she want 3D as well?

2D will probably suffice. She wants to run some gene-sequencing software, and some calculation programs.

Well, that chipset is supported in XFree 4.3.0 - is that the version she has installed in her Mandrake?

Looks like you may to to load the frame buffer driver as well though to get it to work
