Mandrake 9.2 Not Detecting Audity X-gamer

The install went perfectly smooth, however when trying to boot into Linux (and having Linux as the only HDD installed in the system) it gets stuck at my Audigy card when trying to initialize it. Any clue why it sits there? I let it sit there for an hour thinking it was just taking a bit for the initial initialization, but after an hour...well that is way way wrong haha.

Any help would be appreciated, and yes this is my first solo linux install.

Does Mandrake 9.2 try and use the emu10k alsa driver for your card?

It doesn't do anything it just sits at the boot screen and says "creative audigy sound card" and does not go any further.

Try taking the card out of the PC and let it boot for the first time.

After a sucessful boot, try putting the card in again.

If it still fails to work, try the following

1) Disable ACPI or APIC in the BIOS
2) Disbale PnP OS in the BIOS
3) Turn off all "turbo" options in the BIOS
4) Move the card to another slot

Try that

The card should work - I have a SB Audigy 1 working fine and dandy in RH 9 (about a year ago) and currently in Gentoo

Sorry about the delay to the response, forgot I posted it here as I lost my linux drive to an HDD failure. I have a second HDD I am going to install it to sometime in the next week or so (same system specs just a different HDD) so hopefully it will work. I will give your suggestions a shot, although if it does not function with the audigy x-gamer card....well I am not going to yank the sound card every time I want to use linux so

Thank's again.

Lindows - eeek!

Avoid avoid!

Lindows only has one user (root) and as such in insecure.
Please - any distro over Lindows....

Brave man!

Gentoo is one of the hardest distro's to do a base install of if you don't know too much about Linux - but after that it's the sweetest Linux there is imho

Re: Mandrake 9.2 Not Detecting Audity X-gamer

I am using Mandrake 9.2 as well.

A little different version for AMD64 "Mandrake Linux-AMD64 9.2rc1" but it found my Audigy just fine.
