Mandrake with nForce2
I recently installed Madrake Linux 9.2 on my comp, and I must say, it ran really well
Looks really nice to, and it was compatible with my Radeon 9700 as well.BUT...the ethernet interface from the nForce2 chipset would not be discovered. I checked the "hardware manager" and it says that it has found a network card. But typing [ifconfig] in the console only gives me the loopback interface, which isn't much of an interface to surf around with.

You need to configure the ethernet card before it can be "brought up"
ifconfig only shows active interfaces by default does Code:
ifconfig -a

Did you install Nvidia's proprietary network driver? Hopefully, it is included with the Mandrake install disc.
Personally, I hate proprietary drivers, so I use a Netgear card instead.

Try googling for "forcedeth" - it's an open source driver for nforce boards. YMMV
