Very cool! If they design a nicer theme for it, this could be the killer!

There was a videoclip from a demoshow a while ago. While it looked real cool, I can't really see the practical use for the ability to flip application windows in 3D. On the other hand people skin and customize a lot these days for no practical reason, so maybe it will be a hit.

Yeah it looks extremely impressive. Can't wait to try it. And it is even better as they are planing to open-source it.

Look at it as another type of task bar. Personally I would like something like this at work. Granted I wouldn't have to have it but it would be nice.

I would like it - just not on my underwhelmingly 3D powered laptop!

I am actually going to install the beta of this tomorrow. My buddy is a Java Developer and has a copy for me to try out. Should be interesting.

It looks very cool.
Will be nice when they have a beta ready. Right now it is not even yet at beta stage.

I will be keeping my eyes on this one.

Looks nifty, but I don't see how much of an improvement it brings to the desktop.

The point with this tool, as Sun has repeatedly announced, is to create an API for 3D-application development more than to create a 3D desktop for current 2D applications. The included CD-player app is an example of that.

I think that 3D applications will have a significant impact in the way we interact with computers, and in some cases may actually increase usability, especially for all those that do not know how to work with computers. A 3D desktop for 2D applications, however, is not that useful, to me anyway.

I would like a SVG desktop for X. That would be cool.
