........and I have a few questions (please keep in mind, I haven't a clue what I'm doing... this is my first time using this):
How the bloody hell do I change my screen resolution and refresh rate? How do I install new video drivers? If I entered some incorrect settings during installation, how do I fix them. Where would be a good place online to get general information on slackware linux? Can linux see fat32 partitions? ntfs partitions? if so, how do I configure it to read them?

I gave Linux a try a while ago and had similar problems. I used Redhat 7.3 and found that to be pretty nice. To change the resolution in Linux you must open the console...Similar to MS DOS and type something like xconfigurator or something. Try this Link http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...a-xconfig.html I'm guessing that should work with your version of linux. Good Luck and I'd suggest reading some of there info to get answers to your other questions.

Still there is no way to change refresh rate I think.
I had RedHat 7.1 and my ISDN card didn't want to work... It has FAT32 support for viewing, but I don't know how to use it. It makes more problems than it solves, that's why I stick with WinXP. Until Mandrake 15.0 and RedHat 14.0. They will probably be good.

Look for ModeLine lines and change em to what you see fit To change screen res on the fly, I think you can press ALT- - and ALT- + to change it smaller or larger when X is running. Quote:

1) Learn the command line interface, filesystem layout and the contents of the configuration files or 2) Hunt for the configuration section - if slackware supports it. I haven't used slack, so can't really help you there. Quote:

open a console and type 'man fstab' for instructions on what to do.

Can you help about non-working ISDN?
Also, I can't even load X-wins on KYRO and I don't know how to use command line to install drivers.

Maybe. Thing is, I've never seen Mandrake fail to configure ISDN cards incorrectly. And it's networking wizard is easy and it works. For editing files and stuff, http://www.mandrake-user.org has some good info ![]() Quote:

Change res/refresh in Xwindows:
ctrl-alt-shift-keypad + ctrl-alt-shift-keypad - It'll cycle through all configured resolutions/refresh rates/bpp for you. |

Plus, that site teaches you about editing config files - which are 99.9% the same for each distro. I've often found it an invaluable site to get noobies to Linux up and running
