Make videoplayer out of old laptop 266MHz
I want to use an old laptop (Compaq Armada 7400, 266 MHz) to create a videoplayer for my kids.
My gut feeling for this hardware is that it should be enough to show decent video on. The screen is excellent and it has a large harddrive (40 Gb). I also have a hardware MPEG card for PCMCIA slot. I am a newbee in Linux but I am certain Linux will utilize the hardware better than Microsoft does. Anyone interested in my project. I am greatful for all tips. /Magwa |

www.videolan.org has the IMO best multimedia player for any platform. It has versions for windows, for linux and for a few others I think.
It can play anything I throw at it, and I used it as my main video player. For strictly audio though it works great, I prefer Vuplayer at www.vuplayer.com which is a great again audio player by a very nice guy. Both players are freeware and I give them 5/5 stars. :-)
