I cant get wireless working in Fedora Core 3

I dont really know what to say. The Wavelan\Orinoco card shows up fine. I set it up to connect to my router(least I think so). I hit activate. and it doesnt work. It always works on the LIVE CDs...but then I installed my brother's copy of Fedora and it wont work. When I try to activate the wireless card it keeps saying something about "Invalid arguement" or something like that. I dont really get whats wrong. Even when it FINALLY activates, I cant get the internet at all.

can anyone help me here? I seriously have no idea where to start fixing this.

well I decided that Fedora sucks and I dont want to deal with it anymore. So I was thinking about putting Knoppix on because...I dunno Knoppix just ALWAYS WORKS! Wifi works, internet works, games work, wine works, Gaim works...yeah everything.

anyway...my problem now is that I have NO IDEA how to remove fedora and put on a new linux distro. :-\

yea i always considered it slow when i used it.. takes 2 or 3 x the time it does 2 load windows and their built in drivers suck as i cant even play their piguin game w/o lagging...
how did u format it? chances are windows wont detect it and say u have 8mb or storage on ur hdd. not sure cause i dont use it anymore but the fedora disc might be able 2 wipe it...
what brand hdd? go to their website and there should be something to totally wipe the hdd, the method might vary tho, for wd u dl their prog, install in windows in diff hdd and it wipes it from there but takes 2 hdds... for maxtor, i believe that they have a bootable disc thing so that u can zero-fill-in a hdd.

I didnt wanna totally wipe the HDD. Just wipe fedora(I have windows XP on the other partition). Anyway I figured it out. All I had to do is have XP rewrite the master boot sector and the primary boot sector and all was well!

course Knoppix sucks on the HDD(i was warned about this but chose to ignore it).

So I installed Ubuntu...it doesnt work(the new one that is. version 4 worked great). Then I installed Debian...and X wont even RUN ON THAT!

arg. I hate linux. Every distro I try sucks. It never works right on my laptop.

maaaaaaan..................

Oh well. If I could get wifi working, Fedora would be great, but no dice sadly.

Tried Gentoo yet?

It's a pain to install, but it's well worth it once it is

(Yes I'm biased as I'm a Gentoo dev)
PS - I maintain the networking setup scripts for it

I apologize if this is a thread hijack, but I thought this post was similar to the subject. Where do you hang out uberlord? I have major Gentoo install issues. I think cross posting means posting the same problem in different forums, yes? I have a post up here. Can you have a look at it for me please?

I normally "hang" in the Networking & Security AMD64 forums there.
I try and avoid "Install" and others ..... infact most Gentoo devs try and avoid that particular forum and rely on other forum users to help out.

md5 has a spectacular aura aboutmd5 has a spectacular aura about

I'm not sure if that helps, but have you had a look at NdisWrapper?
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/

Try installing the latest version, if that helps at all (but it seems you've already pulled Fedora out of your HDD )
