Whats best Linux under 1gig on a hard drive to try?

I have 6.4 gig back up old harddrive on my system I like to know whats easyes to installed linux on harddrive that setup? Please inclued download links for me thanks.

Why don't you experiment with LiveCDs if you don't have space on HDD? It's safer way, because it won't happen that you accidentally delete or change the partition on that hard drive.
I could recommend some distros that are installed under 1GB, but none of them will give you the idea how good and user-friendly distro looks.
For example: DeLi Linux - http://www.delilinux.de/ - can fit on 250MB HDD space.

So, you've 6GB available? Any distro will do - I personally recommend Ubuntu as a start, and you might want Kubuntu as well. They are both single CD installation, so you wouldn't need to download much.
