Ubuntu Freezes During Install
I'm installing Ubuntu 5.4 on my Sony Vaio S460 Laptop, but during the "Detecting hardware to find CD-ROM drives" portion of the install, it shoots up to 98%, then freezes as it is "Starting PC card services...". This is quite irritating, and if anyone knows of this problem or a way around it, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Did you try the preview 5.10 or either live cd's to see if same issue occurs? I had the same problem with a USB memory stick plugged in.
Second thing try and remove all PCMCIA devices and see what happens. |
