Fedora core x64 and ATI driver.
I installed Fedora Core 4 test2 last night and then tried to get the ATI driver to install without any joy. The RPM failed because of libstdc++ dependency errors (didn't seem to like the compat-libstdc++ for backward support of old libstdc++). Forced a nodep install but couldn't get the kernel module to compile (with or without the two patches for the new kernel). I'm now downloading the fedora core 3 release version for x86_64 in the hope that I will get further with it. Has anyone with fedora core 64bit managed to get full ATI support? If so what's the secret?

However, one FC4 final comes out, you might give it a shot and try to convince ATI to make GCC4 build available...

Installed the FC3 x64 release and now have hardware acceleration of my 9800pro, Going to stick the X800 back in and see what it makes of it.
![]() EDIT: It worked, fgl_glxgears jumped to 1103 FPS, glxgears is up to 7868 FPS. Now to try and overcome all the 32-64 bit stuff that is missing.

![]() I'm curious: do 32-bit apps work on it? And, just BTW: FC3 is in my experience the distro where fglrx install has been least painful, so that I could even say it was easy. It's probably because FC3 uses 2.6.9 kernel, and fglrx has module for that kernel version and no special patching is required.

The only 32 bit app I've tried on it is realplayer which seems to work just fine for mp3s. Don't seem to have any games compatible with linux, would really like to get farcry or halflife 2 going on it but doesn't seem to be that easy.

However, you might consider trying America's Army and Enemy Territory; both are freely available and have Linux version: http://www.americasarmy.com/ http://www.enemy-territory.com/

ET seems to work well enough, but looks like I may have to find a way around the flash frontend for the AA website. Could always try getting it in Windows but that doesn't seems sporting enough.

Would love to get the advanced marksmans done, that's the only boot camp part I need to complete (can only manage about 33 on the marksman training)
