9700 and linux drivers?

Has anyone tried the card with the new drivers? Does it support opengl, or do you have to do the DRI thing? I'm just asking cause it's the only reason I'm staying with my geforce card, I have wine working with opengl in linux with my geforce4 card. Thanks

UberLord will become famous soon enough

Works great with the official ATI drivers

Only gripe I have is that UT2003 works at around 1fps :/
Which is kinda odd as Linux UT is a lot faster than Windows UT with both running OpenGL

UT2K3 shouldn't have any problem with the 2.5.1 drivers. I have a 9700 here doing UT2K3 quite nicely.

As for Linux UT1 working faster, that's because the Windows client is a horrible nasty ugly kludge that is tailored to GLide, and converted (poorly) to OpenGL/D3D, while the Linux client was a complete redesign, with OpenGL as the primary target renderer.

No, the current ATI binary drivers are not compatible with Wine/Winex. They both use a register, and they mutually clobber each other. The next ATI driver should resolve this. The XFree86 3D drivers do not have this issue.
