ATI Proprietary x86 drivers for Linux 8.19.10

Another release from ATI, this time, bumping the version to 8.19.10. Here are the new features:

PowerPlay™ Support

The ATI Proprietary Linux driver version 8.19.10 introduces PowerPlay™ support. This revolutionary power management technology allows for the user to switch between power consumption modes using the aticonfig utility provided with the installation of the driver. For help on using this feature, run aticonfig --help from a terminal. This feature is supported on ATI Radeon 9000 series products and above.

fgl_glxgears Update

fgl_glxgears now supports a new mode using Frame Buffer Objects (fbo). This mode uses the GL_EXT_framebuffer_object OpenGL extension instead of the GLX_SGIX_pbuffer OpenGL extension. To run fgl_glxgears with this mode run fgl_glxgears -fbo from a terminal window.

Initial Suspend and Resume Support

The ATI Proprietary Linux Driver version 8.19.10 has initial support for Suspend and Resume for systems with newer kernels that support this feature.

Issues Resolved

This section provides information on issues that have been resolved with the latest release of the ATI Proprietary Linux driver. The latest proprietary driver introduces a resolution for drmMap failures on 64bit NLD9 SP2 and 64bit Ubuntu Breezy distribution, resolving an issue that prevented 3D acceleration.

They fixed the download thing at least... you can now download it without Mozilla/Firefox trying to display it as text.

Gave em a 7 as there's still loads of shadow/lighting related texture flickering going on in Eternal Lands. Aside from that I'm happy.

Last known working driver for Eternal Lands was 8.16.20

Well the installation went just fine, but it seems that the drivers don't support x800 GTO cards so I'm waiting for the next release ....

I gave them a 1, cuz the kernel module won't build on kernel 2.6.14.2 x86_64 due to undefined symbols (un/register_ioctl32_conversion). These functions have been deprecated for 10 months or so. Maybe I'm being too harsh, I dunno..

To be honest, I haven't upgraded yet, but the 8.18 drivers supported the GTO just fine (I have one). They took support in this one off?

GTOs are R423s, R430s and R480s, and all three types of chips are very well supported. Maybe something else is to blame?

Well, I'm using the 64 bit drivers, and distro is ubuntu 5.10 for some reason it says gives this

and when I disable the int10 in xorg.conf it says no screens found ...
and fglrxinfo cant detect any displays

and the cards core is R480

Well, now I did reinstallation and the drivers installation went just fine.
I encounterd the init10 problem and fixed it, now when I boot to ubuntu screen goes black :P
