Hi there ,
I have a emu 1820 soundcard originally for PC. Now for music production i use a mac book with Logic. I've been considering building myself a hackitosh and installing my 1820 pci card (its not the m version although my friend has it). This would be hooked up to a mixing desk using all the analog outputs and inputs. Is the Kx driver stable for recording or should i give it up and save up for a 'mac supported' sound card. Building a hackitosh involves testing and stability issues so adding this card would cause double the hassle with correcting errors... Some advice would be much appreciated, Thanks Al Fletcher |

Re: Emu 1820 and a Hackitosh build help!
The kx driver doesn't support recording. Besides that it works fine for me with the 1820. I haven't tested all outputs though.
The only other PCI sound cards that has driver support I know of are the RME HDSP models. There are official drivers from RME. I would recommend an PCI or PCIExpress sound card, if you don't need the card for a laptop. |
