yeah, you should definitely start at the source, see from which MAC and IP adress the packets that your rig aquires are coming from, it will probably be the univeristys switch/router... type in wire shark for which IP ranges to sniff incoming packets, and you will probably find the IP of the server (the IP with the most send out packets is probably the one). write in wire shark the IP of the server and see from which ports the connections to all the other users are established... that means that these ports are monitored... or you could just ping every port of the IP of the server and see which ones are not monitored, reroute the explorer to that port, and see what happens... since you don't know much (neither did i ) about the router/switch the university is using, you have to experiment a little... some of the combinations that you try will work for sure...

hmmmmmm.... about wire shark... i think there was a manual somewhere... i don't think there is a help file for the program, at least the version i have doesn't have a help file... google it out, the manual is in .pdf format, and it's not an official manual from the developer... some guy made it back in 2000 or 2001, the program was called Ethereal back then.

ok, i googled around a little bit while i was writing this, , and here is the tutorial i was using for wireshark, i'm sorry i can't explain in more detail how the program works and how to set up you connection and sniff packets, but the program is too complicated for a quick tutorial over visitor messages... sorry...

anyway... here is the link to the tutorial: Wireshark: Tutorial and Podcast from Chris Sanders

back when i got it, it was still called Ethereal, i guess they finaly made a propper tutorial...
