Complete computer noobie!!

Hiya guys,

First some specs of my laptop:
Maker: Mitac
CPU: P4 3.0ghz
RAM: 1Gb
Graphics card : ATI mobility 9600/9700 128mb

Ive got the Omega 3.8.205 driver running and am having problems playing Battlefield2, D&D online and WoW.

With BF2 its a flickering screen/flashes of green or purple, system freezes for 2-3 secs and sometimes blue screen which then re-starts comp.

D&D online crashes every 5-10 mins.

And with Wow its just continuous crashes to desk top, like every 5-10 mins (which is abit frustrating ! )

These are the only games im having trouble with on my system.

Basically all im asking for is some help please !!!!

Any ideas/solutions/suggestions would be greatfully appreciated.

PS. where do you guys get the avatar pictures from ? some are great !

Welcome, Cackles!

Last things first: The avatar can be had once you reach 500 posts.

As for the restarting situation with the laptop: I would first suspect some heat issues. Make sure your computer is cooling properly.

Cheers!

Ok think this is my fault, i forgot to say that when WoW and DDO crash, 90% of the time the Windows error message comes up ( the one about sending a report or not )

I thought it was the graphics driver because of whats happening with BF2.

Thx for rapid reply !!

Ok, ive been on serveral other sites and they are saying that the Mitac always runs hot, so im begining to think what u said about over heating was correct.

Ive had a friend over who knows alittle about comps and hes removed my CD-ROM drive (ive got an external DVD R/W that im using for burning etc) but now ive got this giant hole in the side of the case, what im wondering is, is there an extra cooling fan unit available to fit into this hole ? abit of a strange question i know, but hey, ppl here seem to know what they are doing
