All right. I'm about to scream in frustration! Here's my problem:

This isn't my regular computer. I'm at a relatives, but I wanted to update the video card so that I could play 'The Sims 2' in all of it's glory, as this machine has a better card than mine. So, I figure "How hard is that? Download, click, install, done!". Well, it wasn't that easy. I'm signed up at another forum with a tech section. They suggested I un-install my card, and then try to install the update. I tried that. Got the error message:

Severe!

Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.

Ahhh! What do I do? Now all the graphics are wonky because I've uninstalled! All I know is that the card is Mobility Radeon 9000, and I've got XP Professional.

There you will find the mobility modder, which will alter the driver so it can install on your computer.
That should get you up and running.
