Catalyst 6.3 on Mobility X1600 help!

I got a new notebook about a week ago, Asus A6Ja with a Radeon Mobility X1600 256MB (512MB HyperMemory) card on it.

Asus only supplies old drivers on their site, based on drivers from around November 2005.

ATI does not supply Mobility drivers for the X1600 card, nor any other Mobility X1x00 based cards

I've tried DH Mod Tool 3 and it does not work with X1600 (X1600 is not in the list, so i figured it wouldnt work, but i tried anyway to confirm it).

Is there ANY way to get Catalyst 6.3 and the latest CCC on my notebook at all? If so, please tell me how. I'm gonna play Oblivion on this notebook so i need newer drivers than what i have.

I also want CCC, so Omega is not an option.

The driver at Asus' site for the model A7G might work (x1600 graphics too), its version number is close to the Cat 6.1s - could give that a go until such time as the DH Mobility Modder supports the chip...

How bout the latest Omegadrivers (3.8.231) based on catalyst 6.3?
I have acer's travelmate 8200 notebok with the same graphic chipset and exactly the same problem. I'm currently using this ones because they worked great on my old pc with rad 9600xt and the info says they will work on notebooks. The one provided by acer are probably good enough but since I know fuckall about the dark side of 3d I rely on other people opinions. I'm also not a big maniac of gaming but as a enthusiast I like to vary my free time and play some games without going nuts because of the low frame rate.
What drivers/tools I need to get the best results with my machine?
Please forgive me all grammar errors since english is not my native language.

I've got the Acer TravelMate 8200 running with the latest Omega drivers (3.8.231 Catalyst 6.3). Everything seems fine, get a pretty decent score in Futuremark 2005.

But when running some games I noticed that in certain areas/textures get rendered with that blurred out type effect. The demo version of Tomb Raider Legends is one of the worst.

I have had my Direct 3D quality setting set to maximum quality and this still occurs. Has anybody else got this problem, or better yet, does anybody know what the solution is?

thanks in advance,
Dennis

I'm using quite the same configuration except my d3d and oGL is set to normal. The only games I played so far is q4, nsf mw and black & white 2 just to see how it all works and I didnt notice anything blurry suspicious. The only issue I have is multires vs ati tray tools. When using multires everything is okeish but when launching att something happens to the monitor, I dont know how to describe it, it's something like a rasterizing effect from photoshop, like you put some sieve on the screen and you see this kind of white net of dots, like a filter of smth. It's especially visible when the desktop color is set black and it's really anoying. Did you notice something like this on your machine Dennis?
How are the games behaving on your TM btw? NSF in 800x600 with AF on full and texture quality on max runs like 45-60fps, q4 with ultra high and AF on 2 in 800x600 runs smooth too although I was expecting better results from machine with that spec, what's your score in future mark?

Regards
VooDoo

We are working hard on deliveriing a driver that will function on a wide variety of notebooks/laptops with X1K products under XP. Can't gaurantee when, but it will be soon. I will update the thread once the driver has been posted.

X1600 mobility for XP

Hey
Ive been checking this forum now for a months in wait for the reply that a new driver for x1600 is done and none has come... I want to be able to use my TV out on my Laptop, is there a alternative driver that can be used? My laptop is a Asus A6J if that matters...

Checked out the Alienware m5500 and it says it doesent have a ATI x1600 card, but a Nvidia Geforce go 6600. Can the same drivers still be used? Can I still use the driver u suggested with my ATI card?

what in the world are you talking about it? do you know how drivers work? you can use those with your ATi card but not an nVidia card. also the m5500 comes with either a 6600 or x1600, but the x1600 is out of stock so they will not offer it til the end of June.
