Ati Mobility Radeon 9700 128mb with Cat 6.3 and 6.2

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 with an Ati Mobility Radeon 9700 128MB.

I have tried installing the Omega Drivers and downlaoding the Ati Drivers and modding them with the "DHmodtool3.exe"..

They initially install fine its just that when I restart the laptop it comes up with a blue screen when it tries to start windows, with a physical dump of memory and a problem with an ati dll. It does exactly the same thing on both the Ati drivers and the omega drivers...

Ive tried installing the CCC separately and then restarting and then loading the 6.3 and 6.2 drivers manually but still does the same thing...

Any 1 got any suggestions?

Thanks.

System Specs

Did you use the DH Drivercleaner (available here: [URL=www.driverheavendownloads.net]DriverHeaven Downloads[?URL] ) to clean out the old Dell files first, and have .Net 1.1 installed?

You will also want to make sure you have the latest motherboard chipset drivers (from Dell for that particular laptop) installed.

Edit: Hmmm, there's a video bios update available too.

I myself am having issues with 6.1/2/3 both Omega and and ATI drivers with my 9600 Mobility.

With the Omega drivers, I install them (uninstall old drivers, driver cleaner in safe mode, then install the new drivers), restart, the drivers refresh and I am fine. When I restart my computer, however, the drivers never initialize properly but never give me an error message. I am without any 3D ability until I reinstall the drivers at every boot and restart. Seems they only like to initialize on the first boot after installation.

With the ATI drivers, they are all fine, but I get PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD's with the ATI 6.1/2/3 drivers at a random time and everytime I try to boot into Windows I keep getting it, resulting in my having to boot into safe mode and uninstall the drivers and replace them.

I am using Omega's with the 5.9 Catalysts because I knew these were very stable, but I have performance issues with these ones and I'd like to be up to date on my drivers for the performance. What's going on?

Hmm.. I also have issues w/ the drivers for my mobility.

I have a radeon mobility 9700 on my Sager NP3790 laptop. With these latest video drivers from ATI, all I'm getting after the instal reboot is a garbled screen. Can't see anything all garbled up. Forced to hard shut the system.

Problem is that w/ the old driver (very old) I cannot play Battlefield 2. When I try launching BF2, I would get a flickering black box... maximizing and then restoring over and over.

I have not seen any similar reported issues. Have you reported this issue via the Mobility Feedback program http://support.ati.com/ics/survey/su...D=491&type=web?

Let me look into this and will get back to you.

This only happened to me (Blue screens) with the DHzeropoint release. Omega drivers worked well!

Similar problems

Hello there

I also have a mobility 9700 card in my sager 4791 laptop. It will not work with anything higher than catalyst 6.1 in either the omega drivers or the official ati drivers. Everytime i install it looks like its working fine. Then it starts to switch resolutions on its own and the screen gets completely corrupted. I had to use trial and error to work my way back to 6.1. I left a report on the ATI site about this but have received no reply from them yet. Hopefully this gets resolved soon because some games (BF2) wont let me play without the most recent drivers. At one time i remember i had 6.3 working but i just did a fresh install and now for some reason its not..kinda weird but w/e.

Just for testing i tried installing the next version -> 6.2 after i had the working 6.1 and now its working. It wouldnt work before i had the old 6.1 installed first so i guess if its not working for you, you can get the 6.1 working then work your way up..lol

im going to keep trying to "upgrade" the installations until i reach 6.4 and see if it works...

yay finally got 6.4s working

every version from 6.2 to 6.4 worked perfectly only after i had 6.1 installed first

it wouldnt work from a clean install or with the standard crappy old driver supplied by sager

i hope they fix this in future releases cuz its a pain in the butt to have to work your way up from the old 6.1 drivers

now that ive seen the full install it seems that the place where it used to "crash" and turn to the corrupt screen was at the smart gart detection or w/e. I dunno if that helps anyone that knows more about this than me but i figured id post that anyways.
