Performance Listing of Mobility Cards

Heya,

Im a bit confused with all the mobile graphic cards around. Which one is top notch, which one is entry level... sometimes a card from a previous generation is better than one from a new generation... those sort of things. The thing is, im looking to buying a new Laptop, but im not quite sure which graphic cards are better or not. Im not looking for entry level cards, but I also dont have the cash for the high ends.

Does anyone know where I can find an updated list of all mobile graphic cards, how they compare, and which are suitable for gaming or not? Im aware that you either need to spend thousands on an Alienware notebook or get yourself a desktop system to game "properly", but this aint my space (too expensive, and I cant carry around a desktop all the time ). I just dont want to be fooled by some impressive numbers which later on dont add up, but I still would like to enjoy some of the new games. Im aware that with my budget and my decision for a notebook that im setting myself a few limits.

For e.g., theres the ATI X1600 with 256 MB Ram. The next highest, according to the list at ati.com, is the X1800. So is the X1600 really the next best thing to get without spending loads for the high-end? I have no clue how it is with the nVidia cards, only this much: All of the cards which are advertised with "Turbo Cache" and "Hyperwhatnot" arent what they say they are

Regards,
VA
