Mobility X1400 drivers?

I just got a new Dell E1505 with the Mobility X1400 card and I'm wondering how I can get the latest Cats to work with it...

I can provide the inf or whatever from the driver it shipped with if that helps...

Thanks!
Ryan

I have found the Omega drivers to be fastest on my x1400 which is on my acer aspire 5672
I do like the ccc a lot so am hoping for compatibility
but as staff from ATI have confirmed on this forum, they are seeking to bring OEM's on board to their mobility program, which should hopefully be successful as I am sure there are a lot of performance tweaks for my x1400 to make it hold water a little longer on current games

good luck installing a new driver
if you do decide to try the omegas please make sure you uninstall all driver related applications, ati's driver remover works very well, then just check to make sure there are no remnants

there is a very thorough guide on the omega download pages that ensures a smooth install.

how are the omega drivers these days? I just got a laptop with a x1400 and will be looking to put the best driver set on it.
What are the best cats right now, 6.1,6.2,6.3?

I am using the 6.3 version of Omega drivers (personally I didnt notice any difference between those and 6.2)
anyway if you follow the instructions the driver installs fine.
Detects the x1400 as an M54 gets confused on the hypermemory and thinks the bus is 64bit, but the performance tells me its got a 128bit bus just like the specs for the x1400 on ati's site .

You get a big performance boost from the omega drivers over the supplied Acer modified drivers, but also a little more heat. Which doesnt bother me, but others have moaned about it, especially since it affects the Glidepoint.

Good luck with your drivers guys
I am eagerly awaiting omegas based on 6.4 as there is supposed to be a good boost with them

you know the synaptics touchpad mouse thingy it gets very warm because its directly above the nothbridge and processor, and they give off some heat, with the graphics unit also being serviced by the same fan, the whole machine gets a little warmer,
doesnt affect the running, otherwise I would have reverted back to original drivers immediately

its a great machine and is extremely nice to use

good luck

From Add/Remove Programs remove ATI Software Uninstall Utiltiy. It will remove ATI Display Driver, CCC then reboot.

After reboot ignore found new hardware wizard and cancel it then install Omega driver. Reboot then done.

is it 128 or 256MB

I have an ATI x1400 and I dont know if i have the version with 128 or 256 dedicated, cause i know that there are 2 versions, thus they can go up to 256/512MB with Hypermemory. Is there any way to check that? when I go to properties it says 256MB, and then i check the ram and there are 2gb, which is how much i have, so if those 256 were with hypermemory, there would be less than 2gb, since 128 MB have been used by the graphic card.

thanks, guys

Outsourceror is on a distinguished road

I found the model of my video card and the memory it has by going into a Setup mode.
Restart
F2 key
F12 key
A blue screen appears with expandable menu items marked with "[+]".

Dell describes this:
http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...at.htm#1052726

This is also useful for setting boot options (boot from USB, network, CD, DVD, etc.)
