Problems ATI mobility 9700 128M +Omega drivers

Hey Guys,
Firstly, apologies cos am a bit newbie to drivers stuff. (ok greener than peas!)
System
3 Gig dual processor
1 Gig Ram
80 Gig hd
Ati mobility 9700 128mb G/C

have recently replaced obselete Ati drivers with omega v3.8.231. However it seem to have disabled directdraw and direct 3d. Can't play halo or doom3. Booo! Have created restore point so am not worried but omega drivers seemed to be the answer. What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the forums horus,

Try reinstalling your mainboard chipset drivers with the latest version, and remember, you need to have .Net ver. 1.1 installed for these latest driversets too...

Halo is a DirectX game isn't it?

Thank you for the welcome and the info.
Am looking for my chipset info, software and info supplied for my laptop somewhat lacking.
Halo is direct x, is that important? Also my hardware acceleration has been deactivated. Still
struggling.

The original software that came with your computer may be older than what you need. If you can look carefully at the model number of your computer you should be able to get updated chipset drivers and so forth from the manufacturer's website that hopefully will work better with the latest Omegadrive driverset you are attempting to use.

What is the make and model of your laptop?

And since Halo is DirectX (I thought so, but wasn't certain...), it probably isn't the games themselves that are causing your problem (your acceleration is not working). I thought it might be an issue related to OpenGL (Doom 3 is OpenGL) - but since your having issues with both DirectX and OpenGL games I think we should continue looking into the chipset driver and other supporting files that the video driverset uses to work properly.

Hi swimtech,
Sorry its been a while. so( deep breath...) motherboard flash updates 3 yrs old, laptop 2 yrs old. also manufacturer of laptop in liquidation( Tiny Computers UK) so no support there. Ati refuse any contact or support, have tried patje modder and new drivers, have tried downloading and installing complete DirectX from microsoft. No overlay for playing DVDs. Think I may have a very expensive and portable way of storing my girlfriends CD collection. AAAAARRGH! Do you have any ideas?
Thanks for the help
