External 1680x1050 LCD on Mobility Radeon X800...possible?

Greetings! I am looking into purchasing an external LCD monitor with 1680 x 1050 (widescreen) resolution, for use with my laptop (using it for movies, DCC, primarily to unclutter my main desktop with menus and windows). The video card I have is the ATI Radeon Mobility X800.

When I was fumbling through the Catalyst Control Center (which, BTW I did recently update my drivers), I did not see that particular resolution in the selections (then again, I'm thinking it's probably just displaying resolutions my laptop's LCD can display...).

My question is: Is it possible to properly use an external LCD monitor with it's native 1680 x 1050 widescreen resolution on my video card?

I've got the same questions but for a mobility radeon 9000 on a Dell Latitude D600. I tried the ati support but they wouldn't answer my question. :-(

Can anyone help?

Hey kennedyk78. I answered my own question a couple of months ago...lol. To answer your question, ATI states the maximum supported resolution supported for external monitors on the X800 Mobility Radeon is 1600x1200. Kind of a bummer since I wanted something with decent size and still be widescreen. I'm not sure for your card though...

But I can tell you a 1440x900 resolution monitor works on the X800 Mobility!
