Display drivers for Toshiba Satellite P30?
I have a Toshiba Satellite P30 notebook with an 128 MB Radeon 9700 mobility. The latest official Toshiba drivers are from 2004 (I think they're based off of cat 4.10 or something). I'm just wondering if anybody has the same model of notebook as me and what type of drivers are they using (Cats, Omega, DHZe0point, etc.) and what version they are using?
I'm just looking for the most stable drivers with the best support for movies/games etc. I'm also concerned about overheating if I use non-optimized drivers despite the fact I'm not planning to overclock. Thank you to everybody in advance. |

P30 video driver
There is a tool called DHmodtool3 that can be used to modify the latest Catalyst drivers to work on this laptop. I have the same one and currently use the latest (v6.6?) drivers from the ATI site.
If you cant find it email me at pei_boy at hotmail.com and I can get it to you. pei_boy |

Hello Virulent....
mine is P35.. a later model than P30, but my recovery disc is also applied to P30 series so i assume p35 and p30 based on the same chipset. however mine isnt am9700... but with am9000/9100igp shared mem. i think you should mention your laptop product series in detail.. mine is Toshiba Satellite P35-S605 (the 2nd one defines the specs) (its processor rocks! about 3.5ghz, but the vga sucks!) if you concern so much about heat... perhaps you should buy a cooling pad if you intend to use it on bed. btw i'm using driver from omegadrive... its not too rock since i feel no difference... however, i dont experienced any instability and the movie looks good.... however, since you mention games.... perhaps driver itself would (ideally) boost vga performance about 15% (if you are lucky enough)... so i think its not that worthy to try other driver except compatibility problems with some software.... |
