sync artefacts on LCD
Hi,
my desktop looks as if there is a sync problem on the LCD ?!?! On smooth color transitions you can see severe artefacts which look the same as on crt when having the wrong horizontal frequency. I would like to post a screenshot to illustrate the artefacts, but I don't know how :-( I am running WinXP on a YAKUMO Q8M Power64 YK. LCD 1024x768@60Hz Driver Version Omega 6.05 Release Version 8.241-060321a1-031959C-ATI-OMEGA I am not quite sure which ATI chip is exactly in the system. I appreciate any help. Thanx. cpt Here is the Omega sys info: --- Display adapter ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series AGP (0x4E50) Core Name M10/M11 SubVendor Unknown 1071 SubDevice 8355 BUS 1 Device 0 Function 0 Base Address 0 A8000008 Base Address 1 0000C101 Base Address 2 E0010000 Base Address 3 00000000 Bus Type AGP Current AGP Speed 8x SMARTGART Installed No Driver Version Omega 6.05 Release Version 8.241-060321a1-031959C-ATI-OMEGA QuadBuffer Stereo Support No Catalyst Registry Path System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{507D2B49-1046-49A8-8DAE-8B6327A313DD}\0000 ______________________________ Clock Information BIOS VPU 0,00 Current VPU 0,00 BIOS MEM 0,00 Current MEM 0,00 ______________________________ Radeon PCI configuration space 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F 00 02 10 50 4E 07 00 B0 02 00 00 00 03 04 80 00 00 10 08 00 00 A8 01 C1 00 00 00 00 01 E0 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 71 10 55 83 30 00 00 00 00 58 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 01 08 00 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 71 10 55 83 50 01 00 02 06 00 00 00 00 02 50 30 00 1B 02 00 FF 60 02 03 00 1F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 70 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 05 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 90 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 A0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 C0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 D0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 E0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 F0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ______________________________ Hardware Information Installed memory 64 Mb Memory Type DDR SDRAM Memory Width 128 bit Active Rendering Pipelines 4 ______________________________ ASIC details Family 46 Emulated Revision 3 Gfx Engine ID 3 ______________________________ Radeon Registers RADEON_BIOS_0_SCRATCH 01000004 RADEON_BIOS_1_SCRATCH 0100C000 RADEON_X_MPLL_REF_FB_DIV 00341E04 RADEON_XCLK_CNTL 00A07FFA RADEON_MCLK_CNTL 00031212 GB_TILE_CONFIG 00010011 MC_TIMING_CNTL 1A191911 MC_SDRAM_MODE_REG 31420042 ______________________________ Video BIOS Information Version 008.011.001.027 Part Number BK-ATI VER008.011.001.027 Date 2003/08/12 14:55 Vram Type DDR SGRAM / SDRAM ______________________________ Controller Configurations Controller 0 Active Connections: -LCD Panel (Laptop) (0) 1024x768x60 Controller 1 Active Connections: No Active Connections ______________________________ Displays supported by adapter 0 (1) Monitor (CRT1) 1 (2) LCD Panel (Laptop) 2 (4) TV ______________________________ EnumDisplays Display Type 0, Extended Type 1 , Max Resolution 1600x1200 Display Type 2, Extended Type 0 , Max Resolution 1024x768 Display Type 1, Extended Type 7 , Max Resolution 1024x768 --- |

I just checked the LCD display under Fedora Core 4. The same artefacts appear. Is there a memory section on the ATI chip that remembers certain settings? Can I modify or correct these settings?

Well, now I screwed up everything! I installed Radlinker and changed the clock settings. Bad idea!!!
Can anyone tell me how to get back the default settings with Radlinker? Bios defaults - failed! Disable - failed! Now I need really some help! Thanx in advance. cpt |

At least I am back where I started. CRT works fine and notebook LCD is corruoted.
It looks as if the refresh rate is not 60 Hz. All changes had no effect. Doesn't matter if I adjust 60 or 100 Hz. |
