Maximising screen resolution problem

Hi there,

I have a Toshiba M40 with an ATI Mobility X600, running the latest Omega Drivers with latest ATI Tray Tools.

Basically, whenever I goto start a game - in this case it being HL2 or any of its mod's, the screen resolution won't fully expand to fit the monitor's size. I have HL2 set to run at 800x600 so that's how it'll litterally appear on screen (taking up say 50% of the monitor). The only way to make it fully expand to fit the screen is to set the game to run at 1280x800 which is the max res the monitor can handle - but as you can imagine this res won't run as smoothly as it does with 800x600.

I got it to work once, but upon changing the settings in ATI Tray Tools, it's now having this problem again and I can't seem to fix it this time - I don't even recall what setting I changed before anyways.

I'd love some help :o
If anyone is lost just let me know

Thanks alot!

Antony

I also would like to know an answer to this problem.

That is, you're trying to stretch image to fit the monitor but keep the aspect ratio?

If so, I have been looking for a long time and want to know how to do that as well. I am running a Toshiba A70 with a mobility radeon 9000/9100 igp.

What's happening is that the graphics card is set to centered timings. The only I know of fixing this problem would be to install the normal catalyst drivers with the CCC and set the display to stretch the resolution to the whole screen.

There might be an option in ATi Tray Tools, but I wouldnt know because that utility gives my laptop the wonderful and all-knowing Blue Screen of Death.

Hope this gives you a start.
