Dell 9100/Radeon 9700 Problems
My computer used to work great, I was able to play Fear and every other game I had fine. Then it happened, my harddrive went out, dell sent me a new one. I didnt try to install a game for about 4 months, then I tried to install Command and Conquer Generals. The game ran so slow and choppy it was ridiculous. I tried reformatting my computer to fix the problem, but the same thing happened, Ive tried other games the same thing happens. I have the latest ati driver, the 6.5 using the mod. Ive tried other drivers, same thing. Video playback is terrible, even ESPN gamecast has trouble running. Other than that the computer runs fine, everything is fast. Any help would be appreciated.....

I looked on other posts and saw that some people cleaned out their fans. So I looked up how to do this on dell, and the ducts were completly clogged. So I cleaned it up, restarted the computer and noticed an immediate difference in games. One problem was that I somehow lost sound. Restarting my computer again games were playing like they should with great graphics, and sound returned. Moral of the story, if you are experiencing choppy gameplay, take a look at your fans....
