Mobility Radeon 9600 and Vista-problems!

Hi

I've just installed Windows Vista Beta 2, and it's working great, untill I tried to play a game, like FS2004 or Armadillo Run. It turns out that Microsoft's driver dosen't support hardware acceleration, even thoug Vista with Aero runs as smooth as silk. Anyway, I download and installed the ATI Vista-beta drivers. Same problems with them (3dmark01, 7000 points ofa normal 13000), and no hardware acceleration in games. Then I try the xp 6.5 catalyst drivers, and guess what, same problems with them. I checked the device manager each time, it did change drivers for the grapichs card.

Whatever I try I cant get hw-acceleration, so games are out of the picture. Any ideas?

Thanks

System Specs

Hello:

It sounds like the AGP Bus driver isn't installed correctly or not present at all. If it isn't installed, device manager will list it as a "PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge".

Try installing an ATi GART driver from the ATI website under the "Motherboards/IGP"
or perhaps even try using the automatic driver update feature. But without the proper AGP bus driver, any AGP acceleration won't be available. You would also be able to use the Windows XP AGP driver you may have on your notebook's manufcturer's website or installation CD.

In some cases, you could install the AGP Bus driver by installing the original Windows XP drivers that came with your notebook, and than updating them (after a couple of restarts) with newer drivers such as the ATI Vista beta 2 driver.

Good luck.
