ATI Mobility x1600 problems

Anyone else having problems with their mobility x1600 card?

Anyway on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5562WXMi -spec= Centrino Duo 1.66 , 1Gb ram, 100Gb hard disk ) I cant get a number of 3D games to work no matter what is tried.

So far I've tried updating BIOS, ATI Catalyst control centre, and changing the game settings so they weren't so demanding but no success.

As always ATI themselves are no help and Acer support has gone AWOL.

So has anyone come up with a solution to this?

Try Catalyst Mobility 6.6, which was just posted today.

http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst

Let me know if this driver helped.

Thanks for the link. I did try but it made no difference. The problems seem to occur mostly with EA games so maybe its them. I ran EA Easy Info and according to that I have no graphics memory (see below).

ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 Local Memory: 0.0 Driver Version: 6.14.10.6618

Device
Description ATI Mobility Radeon X1600
Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc.

Driver
Version 6.14.10.6618
Module ati2dvag.dll
Date 6-7-2006

Memory
Total 0.0
Available 0.0
Non-Local 0.0
Texture 0.0

Does this make anymore sense to you than it does me??

Try this system info utility. Select the video section to see the total video memory being detected.

Thanks again. According to this it has 512mb DDR/SDRam. On my previous post it appears that some of the 3D options were turned off. Turned on these also show up as

Memory
Driver
Version 6.14.10.6601
Module ati2dvag.dll
Date 3-8-2006

Memory
Total 256.0
Available 374.0
Non-Local 223.5
Texture 374.0

Total 256.0 Available 374.0 Non-Local 218.3 Texture 374.0
So much better. Do you think this is a software issue with EA?
