mobility radeon 9700 with external apple 20" cinema display

I can not get the external display to run at the native 1680x1050 that my Apple 20" cinema display requires.

I have a sony vaio and the lcd runs at 1440x900

can anyone point me at a hack that will allow me to run this resolution. I can set it to at a maximum of 2048x1536 so size is not the issue - I just need the correct proportions.

Any help would be much appreciated.

it fixed my problem up a treat.

I was wary, as it seems quite an "intrusive" hack and its a work laptop that I needed to run the procedure on - but it was either that or send back my shiny new apple display back to the shop, and that was NOT going to happen!

the procedure worked perfectly without any hiccups - many thanks DriverHeaven!
