ATI Mobility 9700 with Omega drivers problem (please help!)
Hi there
![]() I hope I'm posting in the most appropriate location - I'm rather stumped by what appears to be a driver related problem & I'm hoping that other people might immediately recognise this. I'm using an ASUS A4K series laptop, with a 64mb Radeon 9700 mobility card installed. As ASUS haven't updated their official drivers for many, many months, I turned to the Omega version in the hope that I might be able to squeeze a little more performance out of the machine. After installing the Omega 3.8.252 (Catalyst 6.5) drivers, I saw an immediate and considerable improvement in performance in several games (notably F.E.A.R. and Need For Speed: Most Wanted which now played with virtually no stuttering at all). Unfortunately, some games were suddenly afflicted with graphical corruption that hadn't existed before. Max Payne II, while running at a seemingly adequate pace, experienced many random 3D artifacts (like long, enormous triangular or trapezoid shapes sprouting from Max's face or the environment in general). The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, had similar problems with many surface textures displaying frequent glitches - the frame-rate may have even dropped, too. I haven't re-installed my old (official ASUS / ATI) drivers yet, as I would like to find a happier solution. If anyone can offer any insight, I'd be incredibly grateful. Many thanks in advance! ![]() CC |
