Radeon showin 32MB instead of 64MB

Before I formated HDD, I had an ATi Radeon IGP 345M (I guess thats equal to Radeon 7000) with sharred 64MB (this is a laptop).

I decided to instal Ubuntu Linux just for the hell of it, and if everything worked out ok, I'd stay on linux forever. But things didn't workout ok...my modem was winmodem so I had to revert back.

I'm back to windows professional again. everything works, except that when I run dxiag, it shows 32Mb instead of 64MB in display properties.

Running Omega 3.8.252 drivers. My card is recognised and all, just not showing the right amount of RAM memory.

Any inputs?

Greetings and welcome to Driverheaven!

It sounds like your BIOS got changed somehow. That's where you establish how much memory the IGP will share with the system RAM.

It likely defaulted to 32 MB when you made your OS changes.

Yeah, probably it did. But I have no way of accessing the BIOS. I've tried every possible key...but anyway, I'll tinkle with it.

Now, my Opera and Firefox are constantly crashing without any explanation. Sometimes the error window doesn't even come.

Also, I get blue screen of death more often. Could this be due to Omega drivers maybe?
Radeon had NO drivers installed, so Omega is it's first, fresh driver.

Hello:

Accessing the BIOS needs to happen when the computer is first turned on. The general key to access the BIOS is F1, F2 or the del key (usually easier to press the key repeatedly when you first turn your system on). However, it is dependant on your notebook OEM.
If you specify the model of your notebook, i may beable to assist you with accessing the BIOS.

The Radeon IGP 345M uses UMA shared memory, which is assigned by the BIOS. It is the "UMA" setting that appears on the "general" or "advanced" screens in most BIOS menus that use the Radeon IGP 3xx chips.

The Radeon IGP 345M can become unstable in some cases when using the Omega drivers from a direct Fresh install. It is usually recommended to install the notebook's most up-to-date driver first, than update them manually to the omega drivers, or other modded driver (ie, by usuing patje's mod tool)

You browser issues, and BSODs could be related, but i have not heard of such an issue relating directly to the graphics drivers. I would recommend checking your system event log (start--> run --> eventvwr.msc) to determine the exact problem. It sounds more related to a virus, or file corruption.

The notebook model is Sony Vaio PCG-FRV37. And I can't really blame Omega drivers since I get a blue screen almost 5-10 times a day even with the original drivers that came with the notebook. I think it might be memory leaks or/and a corrupted driver somewhere. The system is way unstable.

I just checked the eventvwr.msc
OR I might have a virus.

Hello again,

You could try a BIOS update for your Sony Vaio PCG-FRV37

From here:

Follow the update instructions from Sony carefully. You will be updating your BIOS under your own risk, and make sure the update process does not get interrupted.

I would also strongly recommend a complete system reload, and have your memory modules tested. You can download and use the Windows Memory Tester, which you can get here:
