Resolution problem - ATI radeon 9600 mobility

Real weird one here.

At work we have a few Compaq nc6000 notebooks, which come with an ATI radeon 9600 mobility video card. When setting up all of these notebooks, the native resolution is 1400 x 1200 or something like that.

However, there is one notebook which will only go to 1024 x 768, and it says that is it's native resolution. I have tried everything I can think of to change it. Display properties show that 1024 x 768 is the max res.

I have tried swapping hard drives from a 1400x1200 notebook into the 1024x768 notebook, and the res is still 1024x768.

I have also snotted the lappie and started again, but with no luck

Does anyone have any idea as to why this one lappie would be dodgy?

Hi there and welcome to DH!
So the notebook that can do only 1024x768 is Compaq nc6000?
If it is try update the drivers. If that don't help there's a option in display properties that might soleve things or make it worse. But we'll get to that later.

Hi Temeteus82,

I have download and updated the drivers from both the hp website, and ati website. I have rolled back, uninstalled, updated, everything I can think of.

The strange thing is that the exact same driver CD is used on all of the notebooks, but this is the only one that remains on 1024 x 768?? And yes it is an nc6000...

Any ideas will be great, thanks.

ok, so it seems that it' not driver issua then...
take a look on computer that has no resolution problems and goto display properties / settings / advanced / moniror
There you should se check box that allow you to "force" the resolution. If this feature is on a computer that has no resolution problems then there is the way to fix it.
