ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 & Widescreen Display

I just purchased a 22" Widescreen display and want to output the correct widescreen resolution - 1680x1050. Can it be done? I do not have a widescreen laptop display currently. New drivers? Something that should come with the display package? Thanks!

If the resolution you are desiring is not present as a choice in the Control Panel or Catalyst Control Center, then you might want to try Powerstrip Here

I noticed for my laptop that the particular resolution you asked for was not a choice for the particular driverset I am using...

No need to bump...

Have you given Powerstrip a try? What were your results?

It would help us all to help you more if you could give us the make and model of the laptop you are using and the version of the particular video driver you are using.

As long as the graphics card could detect your 22" screen, it will make communications between themselves to find the maximum resolution it can support, perhaps you might have to enable the 22" screen first so that it could be detected?

swimtech: if you are using the latest drivers, then driverset wouldnt be the problem of the choice of resolution not displayed, the reason might most probably be because your screen doesnt not support the resolution, therefore it is not displayed in the choices...

I was having the same issue with my Mobility Radeon 7500 and Widescreen. I got it to work (with quite a bit of effort), and just wrote up a webpage summary and posted it to my personal website.

I hope it's OK to link; best to get the information (and pictures) off there. All the real credit goes to those who wrote ModTool.

Thanks!
