Win 98 ATI Mobility Radeon 9000/9100 IGP [Don't laugh :)]

I have a laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon 9000/9100 IGP Graphics

I triple boot
windows 98
windows xp
Linux

I have got windows xp and linux working just fine
but i can't get a Graphics driver for windows 98

Please is it possible to get 98 to work with this Graphics card ?
all i need is 32bit colour doesn't matter about framerates or game playing

Thanks

I'm not sure if you still need help with this, but...

I don't remember if the last Omega Win98SE/ME Radeon Driver (Catalyst 4.2) supported the Mobility Radeon 9000/9100 IGP... but you can download it from "here" and see if it'll install.

If the Omega Catalyst 4.2 won't work for you or if you prefer to use the latest ATI Win98SE/ME Catalyst 6.2 drivers ("click here"), post the following...
Your video card's "Device ID"
The "native" resolution for your notebook's LCD

It's been awhile since I fooled around with getting drivers to work with Win98SE... so if want to try it yourself, there's a thread on DellTalk (forum) that "might" help ("click here").

I'm also assuming that your notebook's chipset (if Intel) is supported by the latest "Intel Chipset Drivers for Win98SE" and you've installed it...

Aloha,

You could use the DH ModTool click here by Patje on the downloaded file to add support for your mobile video chip. That way you don't have to modify the .inf file yourself - can be tricky...

Default Post Manual Modding of Windows 98/ME Catalyst drivers

Hello:

Add the following device codes under the "[Mfg]" in the main CX_XXXXX.inf files in the Catalyst 6.2 for Windows 98/ME

[Mfg]

;; ADD THESE:
"ATI Radeon 9100 IGP" = RS300_ENU, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5834
"ATI Radeon Mobility 9000/9100 IGP" = RS300_ENU, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5835
"ATI Radeon 9100 PRO IGP" = RS300_ENU, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7834
"ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 IGP" = RS300_ENU, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7835
;;

You can download the legacy Windows 98/ME of Catalyst 6.2 from here:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/9...naiw-98me.html

When you run the "Catalyst Suite" package, cancel installation when you encounter the error. The drivers should be unpacked c:\ATI\SUPPORT

Edit the CX_XXXXXX.inf files and add the above listed device codes to add support for your mobile chipset.

You do this moddification at your own risk, and these device codes are based on what i was able to find on the internet, hoever feel free to add or correct the codes to suite your graphics chip VEN and DEV codes. You do not need to use any SUBSYS codes.

OR.....if you only need winows 98 to run certain legacy software, you could consider running 98 as a Virtual Machine.

Try Microsoft Virtual PC, or google "Virtual Machine" to find more information.

Microsoft link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx

NOTE: Virtual PC 2007 only runs on Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista.

Good luck, and have fun.

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

As you are new to these forums you didn't know that this thread was considered as dead. Anyway I recomend you to use some older Omega's drivers since they got support for that mobile radeon card. I recommend Omegas drivers based on CAT 6.5 or later.

You can get the drivers from here : http://www.driverheavendownloads.net/omegadrive.htm
