x1600 mobility error with external monitor
Ihave an acer 5672 wlmi. I recently bought a brand new Samsung Syncmaster 730B. When I have my monitor connected to through the VGA port on my laptop, it will sometimes flash uncontroably for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. I have tried the new zeropoit drivers, the original drivers, catylyst drivers (6.10 and 6.11) and the omega drivers. The CLI.exe process running the background takes up a lot of cpu during this time. You guys have any idea?

The cli.exe is only used for the catalyst control centre and by the sounds of it you've been using alot of different drivers. First off i'd suggest you download "Driver Cleaner Pro" if you haven't already done so and follow the instructions before you go uninstalling your drivers.
Then install the latest Omega Drivers and try that. Could maybe be a driver conflict where you have used so many different drivers. |

Also don't install the Catalyst Control Centre after installing the Omega drivers, not only does it use quite a bit of CPU resources, but it also used quite a bit of Page Filing too which will give your hard-disk a run for its money.

well the deal is, I have been running driver cleaner pro after every uninstall, and while I was using the Omega drivers it was the ati2evxx.exe process that takes up all my cpu resources when the screen flashes. I have found this same problem at other forums, but only one instance, I think there is a correlation betweed dual core notebooks and the x1600s or something, given you have an external monitor (which is what flashes)
