Mobility x600 Cat. Drivers
I just had a quick question concerning my drivers. Im using a ATI Radeon Mobility x600 using a pentium 4 HT. I recently downloaded the mod tool, my questions is I went to http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html => Media Center => Radeon => x600. Then downloaded cat 6.12 , did i download the correct drivers or am I going to mess my comp up? Thanks for any help you can supply.

Welcome to the DriverHeaven forums Demonoid...
Yes, using a driverset not specifically approved for use by the manufacturer can "mess up" your computer. However, a lot of us do it regularly. The Catalyst 6.12 set might, and then again, it might not, depending... On laptops especially, there is quite a bit of risk involved due mainly to compatibility issues between the driverset, bios, chipset, and video chip in the unit. Know also, in fairness, that the first people to try the latest driverset for desktop chips modded to work with a Mobility chip in a laptop take the biggest risks - but I've never actually heard of the hardware being damaged - at worst they have to wipe the hard drive clean and reinstall the OS and applications or restore the hard drive with software supplied by the manufacturer on optical disks or a restore partition. But, if you're willing to learn and experiment, there's a bunch of us here who are willing to do what we can to assist... What is the exact make and model of your laptop?
