Radeon 9000IGP and HomeWorld

I got a Toshiba Satellite A75 which comes with an integrated Radeon IGP9000. I can play some games with it and others not. Strangely, I have more troubles with older games than with newer ones.

For now I have MUonline working, and ChessMaster worked too (but back then I had the Toshiba drivers installed).

Warcraft3 does not start complaining that it can not start DirectX something, and suggests I install DirectX8.1 in the CD, but I have the directX9.0c installed.

But the real objective is to run HomeWorld Cataclism, which I recently got, and is a very old game. Depending on the drivers I have installed, I can set the "compatibility" tab to "windows2000" and it will start in software renderer mode, and I get into the pre-game interface. When I go in-game, it seems the vertices of the ships appear as dots of light, without poligons between them (actually, it seems like a bad case of poligon misplacing, as sometimes some awkward triangles flash through the screen.

But, like 10 or 20 seconds after the game has begun, I get a "illegal operation" thing and the game is closed. If I enter "sensors" mode (which is a diagramatic display of the game space, like a "map mode") I get a red screen and no illegal operation, but if I get back to the normal game mode it happens.

I can not make the game use OpenGL renderer, and if I set it to DirectX I get error in the pre-game interface, the interface is drawn but no cursor and all the sprites (as the mouse-over the buttons) are placed in the lower corner.

I've tryed many different drivers, with more or less the same results. Right now I am using DHZer0point, but the results are kinda the same...

Any ideas?

Thanks anyway...
