x1600 omega + scale image

Hi, i've looked around on the forums for a while now and i've seen what i think are similar problems to mine but never really found an answer.

i've got a ASUS F3Ja with a mobility x1600 in it, i've been running the default drivers that came with the cd but then i decided to update them.

So i downloaded the ATI validation thing to see if my laptop was suppported and it wasn't. I then went to download omegas drives and installed them, worked like a charm, except that when i boot up my computer its running 1280x1024 and to my surprise the image is centered and i got these black slices of screen on either side since its a 15.4" widescreen. Alright so i change it to 1680x1050 no biggie. now i want to switch to my external 19" samsung 930BF so i hit "Fn+F8", i get the little icon that says its switching.... nothing happens.

Alright fine i'm a lazy person but today i'm gonna be less lazy so switch the resolution and again get the pretty black slices of screen, i pop up the omega control panel and clone my monitor. great, works like a charm! only that my laptop looks like it is dead on the edges, fine i can live with this, i mean i'm looking at the other screen right? i live with it a couple of days. then i decide to go to my friends house. i hook up the lappy, start it, start IIDX (its a console game) so it runs at 640x480. and now again i get these black slices of screen. now that i can't live with.

so all in all i've got 4 issues really

1. The Function key isn't working in the omega drives
2. When i'm not running widescreen in a game i get black pieces of screen (which would be fixed by "Scale to image - maintain aspect ratio"
3. When running 1680x1050 then switching on my 19" it doesn't work because omega set the res to 1500x1050 (or something similar)
4. The normal ATI drivers use the control center which messes with my laptop and i'm not very fond of

and my questions are:

1. Are other people aware of this Function key issue? Is the Omegadrives coder aware of this?
2. i've looked around, seen alot of posts of it, haven't found the answer.
3. Should be easy to fix by the coders
4. is there any way of using the normal ATI drives with the old Control panel instead of control center?

and lastly, to all other WSXGA+ screen owners out there, which drivers do you recommend?

To all of you who read this post, thanks for any critisizm and input and i hope i'm welcome into the community =)
