??? Any way to upgrade Graphic Card Memory?

I have a Mobility Radeon 9700/64MB graphics card and Medieval Total War II and the later won't work with the former. I have 1Gb RAM and a Pentium 4 on and Acer Aspire 1672LMI but the Graphics card just isn't up to the task. It doesn't look like you can upgrade these cards but does anyone know of a way? I have a Type 2 CardBus (PCMCIA) slot but it looks like this is just for peripherals.

Any ideas? I would be grateful for any.

Nope.
Unless you have a removable graphics card AND your OEM released the same model laptop with a 128 MB 9700 AND you can find one that isn't burned out AND you trust yourself to crack open your laptop and replace it yourself.

They can be quite expensive too, so really it isn't worth it.

Well...your not completely dead, got like £200? Then buy an external graphics card for your laptop, ASUS just made one.

That doesn't help him one bit. Judging by the fact that he has a Mobility 9700, I can tell that he doesn't have a PCI-e bus. Since he doesn't have one, there is no way he can have an expresscard slot.

I'm a little doubtful of how those things are going to work anyway. Exprescard only uses 1 PCI-e lane (1x). Graphics cards really need a lot more than that to function fully. We put them in 16x slots for a reason.

smax, a x700pro 256mb runs to it's full potential (at least for me it did) on a 4x PCI-ex slot (lanes).... course nocking that down to 1x is going to probably hinder it (anyone try to plug in a x16 slot card into a 1x slot yet? )

but i beleive a 1x pci-ex slot with one lane has more potential throughput then a 2-4x agp card

True, but people are going to be throwing 8800's in there thinking that they will magically blow everything else out of the water... I think it will turn into a major bottleneck.
